5-year-old dies after being struck by lightning on N.C. beach
CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WVEC) -- A 5-year-old boy died Sunday after he was struck by lightning on a Carova beach.

Currituck County Fire-EMS said the department received a call about the lightning strike at 4:11 p.m.
After the boy was struck, his family members of the boy put him in their SUV and started driving south on the beach. Rescue personnel met the family about a mile north of a rental property called "Laughing Gull."
Medics took the 5-year-old to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach where he died.
Melton told WVEC-TV Now the boy and his family were on vacation on the Outer Banks.
